Kivitv.com: Meals to Unite delivering food to families at the Ronald McDonald House

By Lynsey Amundson, Kivitv.com

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Idaho volunteer food service was canceled to protect its families from COVID-19. But, the Fork and Alavita restaurants in downtown Boise are stepping in to help.

An Idaho couple, Nick and Lauren Flores, know what it’s like to have a child in the ICU and how something as simple as a meal can help during that time. So, they set up a GoFundMe page, called Meals to Unite, for the community to donate money to help deliver meals to the families in need.

Through Meals to Unite, Fork and Alavita will be delivering 40 meals to the Ronald McDonald house with three additional delivery dates in the upcoming weeks with the money raised from the community.

“Not only are we supporting the families that are here and obviously struggling at the hospital,” said Nick Flores. “But furthermore, that Fork can continue to support those other merchants within the community with whom they buy their food and various inputs. And all in all, we just felt like this was too good of an opportunity for us to pass up.”

One hundred percent of the money goes straight to the Fork and Alavita to create meals that they will deliver to the Ronald McDonald House. For every meal that is delivered, Fork and Alavita will donate ten percent of the proceeds to a non-profit that focuses on helping the community.
